2 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE SmackDown (July 15)

4. Going The ‘In Over Her Head’ Route

Sure, Liv Morgan beat Natalya in a competitive bout, but WWE then immediately pointed out that Ronda Rousey squashed Nattie like a bug in a post-match promo. They did this to position Liv as the clear underdog at SummerSlam, which is fine, but something is slightly off.

Here's the problem: Morgan opportunistically cashed in her Money In The Bank briefcase, and she's being painted as someone in over her head against Ronda. That, regrettably, is having the knock-on effect of turning her into a woman who looks more like a temporary champ than a breakout star.

It's concerning, because WWE isn't known for showing patience.

The entire build towards Liv's bout vs. Ronda makes this fan think that creative will pull the rug from beneath Morgan's feet later this month. That could be the ruse, in fairness, but man...maybe stop with the giddy giggling and 'happy to be here' stuff.

Liv is coming across as Aliyah with a belt.
