2 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE SmackDown (July 15)

3. Here’s A Match (Only Kidding! Again!)

One has to question the smarts of repeatedly advertising Drew McIntyre vs. Sheamus then pulling a quick bait and switch week after week. This time, it was Ridge Holland's turn to take a "scheme booting" (as they say in Drew's native Scotland) from McIntyre.

It was too short to really mean anything.

There's also an alarming lack of drama surrounding Drew, 'cause his Clash At The Castle title shot was pretty much announced months ago. If WWE thinks they can position McIntyre vs. Sheamus at SummerSlam as a number one contender's bout and successfully trick fans, then they should think again - there's only one winner in that scenario.

Perhaps the most frustrating thing about all of this is that some of the talent involved is world class. Drew and Sheamus always produce the goods, but these 'here's a match...only kidding!' segments are interminable.
