20 Best TNA Wrestlers Ever

4. James Storm

Pushing James Storm as the biggest star in the company may have been TNA’s last real chance to become a competitor to WWE. No joke.

From 2002 until today (minus a brief stop in NXT), Storm was a member of the TNA roster, and one of their most entertaining members. He established himself as a great tag team wrestler in America’s Most Wanted and later with Beer Money. It was the dynamic between him and Bobby Roode that signaled that both men may have a lot of untapped potential as singles acts. In 2011, Storm was given that opportunity and he absolutely delivered.

For a time, The Cowboy was cutting the best babyface promos in the entire wrestling business. He also represented a southern wrestler who wasn’t treated like a fool as we’ve often seen in WWE. He appealed to a huge demographic that had been basically ignored for years. He was just a good ‘ol boy who liked to have a beer and kick some a**, it’s a gimmick that has got over for decades, and he was the newest incarnation of it.

For whatever reason, the company never went all in on him. And after a cool moment of him winning the Heavyweight Championship, he dropped it and never again came close to reaching that same peak.

James Storm has been a part of a ton of great matches and moments in TNA, and yet will still likely be remembered as one of their biggest “what if’s?”

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
