20 Best Wrestling Tag Team Matches Ever

16. Kevin Steen & El Generico Vs. The Briscoes (Ladder War - ROH Man Up 2007)

TLC II Jeff Hardy Christian
ROH

Better known to WWE audiences as Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, Steen & Generico were a tremendously popular tag team in Ring of Honor. Generico was the perfect sympathetic underdog babyface, and the bullish Steen was every bit as sharp-witted and charismatic as he is today. 2007 saw them engage in the most memorable feud of their ROH run with Jay & Mark Briscoe, and this Ladder War was their finest match.

The Briscoes and Steenerico always had incredible chemistry together, and Man Up represented the culmination of their rivalry. The smaller, tighter venue meant there wasn’t as much scope for death-defying Jeff Hardy moments, but it didn’t matter. This match was just as much about venom and hatred as high spots, and it looked like the two teams were legitimately trying to kill each other.

Blood, brawling, and hard bumps: it had everything. The ROH fans were left chanting “match of the year” by the end, and while Steenerico’s tag work is often forgotten about when discussing their seven-year feud, it’s well worth revisiting. The first Ladder War is one of the most memorable bouts in ROH history, and features four of the company’s biggest icons.
