Last year placed 7 The best in the world spot has been held by CM Punk for the past few years, and it really looked like Daniel Bryan would be the man to replace him in 2014. However, it is Seth Rollins who emerged as the greatest performer in WWE this year. Initially, in the first half of the year, it was all about his athletic performances. Look back at any of The Shield's six man matches against The Wyatt Family or Evolution, and you'll see that it was always Rollins who really stole the show. It isn't just that he'd do the biggest high flying spots (including balcony dives), it was everything about him. He moves in the ring with a speed and smoothness that no other wrestler can match. His timing and delivery of moves is exceptional, almost as if he's got a psychic understanding of his opponent. His ability to sell is simply exceptional. Some wrestlers will take a flip or a bump, but with Rollins it is always so much more punctuated. He works and sells pro wrestling better than any of his peers. But great in-ring skill isn't enough, you need character, too. And that's exactly what Rollins developed when creative split him from The Shield and pushed him as the number one heel in WWE. Suddenly we got to hear from Rollins on the mic, and he excelled in generating heel heat. This resulted in what was perhaps WWE's feud of the year, as Rollins became embroiled in a vicious personal feud with Dean Ambrose. That memorably resulted in the fall Rollins and Ambrose fall from the Hell In A Cell structure. The fact that Seth Rollins was captaining Team Authority against Team Cena in the Survivor Series main event says it all about the strides that this 28 year old has made. The WWE championship surely beckons in 2015, and at such a young age, he can be a force for years to come. Highlight of the year: Winning the Money In The Bank ladder match.
