20 Biggest Stars In WCW Nitro History

12. Sid Vicious

The master, and ruler, of the world made his WCW Nitro debut in 1999 and instantly became one of the marquee stars in the company's attempt to rebuild itself after falling behind in the Monday Night War. A performer with a great look, underrated promo skills and a larger-than-life personality, Sid always managed to captivate audiences. He carried himself like a star, had a certain "cool" factor about him and his booking helped establish him as one of the top heels in the sport. Immediately targeting Goldberg, it was made clear by those in the booking room that Sid was meant to be one of the company's saviors. After all, Vince had made him a main event star years earlier. Now, all they had to do was carry that momentum forward. It was not as easy as management thought. Yes, Sid did a phenomenal job of carrying the ball that was handed to him. He was motivated, thanks to his spot on the card, and even worked fairly well with Goldberg. He held down the top of the card when he turned babyface and won the WCW Championship, feuding with both Jeff Jarrett and Scott Hall before handing the title over as part of the Billionaire's Club vs. New Blood. Unfortunately, the last image fans had of Sid as an in-ring competitor during his days in WCW were that of a man lying motionless in the center of the ring, his leg a twisted, mangled mess. It was a heartbreaking, stomach-churning image and one that the fans who witnessed it would never forget.
