20 Most Horrifically Stupid Things That Ever Happened In WCW
9. Hogan-Warrior II
When The Warrior debuted on Monday Nitro in the summer of 1998, wrestling fandom was buzzing - some were elated, as one of wrestling's most mysterious and exciting characters was back in the big leagues after two years away. Others were more cynical, calling The Warrior a relic and pointing out that he had only come to WCW so Hollywood Hogan could defeat him, getting his win back from their legendary WrestleMania VI encounter.
Still, Warrior's confrontation with Hogan on Nitro was undeniably fascinating. From there, though, his momentum stalled. He only wrestled sporadically, but he would make frequent (and rambling) appearances, materializing in the ring via a cloud of smoke (in reality, he came though a trapdoor which made the ring more dangerous and led to Davey Boy Smith badly injuring his back). He hypnotized Hogan's old buddy, The Disciple (formerly Brutus 'The Barber' Beefcake) into joining his side, forming what he called the One Warrior Nation (or oWn - clever, huh?). He once appeared in a mirror, taunting Hogan, who was the only one who could see him (well, Hogan and the millions of fans watching on TV, anyway - he seemed to be invisible only to Eric Bischoff, who was by Hogan's side).
As things got sillier, fans cared less and less. They finally clashed at Halloween Havoc 1998 in a match that wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer would give his lowest possible rating - negative five stars. Even Bischoff admitted, years later, it was one of the worst matches in history. Hogan scored the pinfall after his nephew, low-level wrestler Horace, hit Warrior with a chair. The match, which was jeered heavily by the live crowd, was Warrior's last appearance in WCW and the final high-profile contest of his career.
