The Rock went into Survivor Series 1998 as the next big breakout star in WWE. Instead, he ended up as the heel corporate WWE Champion two years after he made his debut. Thanks to the help of Vince and Shane McMahon, The Rock became the top heel in the company. I recently wrote about the genius of the heel turn in a piece about Survivor Series 1998. It really was brilliant storytelling.
