After a close battle in the 90's for ratings supremacy, the WWF quickly saw off WCW in the early 2000's. McMahon ended up in the dream situation of being able to see off his competition and create a monopoly, all for the cheap price of three million dollars. That's the amount he bought WCW for in 2001. It was an amazingly low figure. Just a year earlier, the sum talked about for WCW's worth was $500 million. Few in the industry could believe it. Wrestlers like Chris Jericho have since expressed regret at not snapping the bargain up themselves. WCW's video library alone was worth more than three million.
