In terms of pay per view buys, WrestleMania 28 in 2012 was WWE highest grossing pay per view event. It weighed in with an impressive 1.2 million pay per view buys, largely drawn by The Rock versus John Cena in the main event. It is a record that is unlikely to ever be broken, not now that the WWE Network has killed off the pay per view business. Granted, 1.3 million subscribers were registered for WrestleMania 31, but it isn't likely that all of those fans actually tuned in for Mania. It's also worth noting that a pay per view is $60, whereas a Network subscription is just $9.99. Thus WrestleMania 28 is way out in front as a success.
