7. The WWE Title Has Changed Hands More Than History Says
Before the advent of television and internet reports, the WWE could do pretty much whatever they wanted with the WWE Title. A title change in a random town wasn't ever going to be reported on, meaning that WWE could book a result, but the next day act as if it never happened. A prime example is when Antonio Inoki defeated WWF Champion Bob Backlund on November 30 1979. He then vacated the belt on December 6, and then Backlund won the vacant belt on December 17 when he defeated Bobby Duncum. None of that history is recognised by WWE, who act as if Backlund's reign was uninterrupted.
