18. The Raw Set Collapses On Vince McMahon To End Million Dollar Mania

Vince McMahon was desperate for ratings in 2008, so he started "McMahon's Million Dollar Mania" where he would give away 1 million dollars of his own money every week. Sometimes he gave away as much as $500,000, other times it was $25,000 and sometimes it was as low as a few dollars. He would call people live on Raw, they would have some password that was mentioned during the show and Vince would tell them if they won or lost. On the June 23, 2008 edition of Raw, some sparks went off and part of the set collapsed on top of Vince. It led to a scene where a bunch of wrestlers and officials had to lift off a huge piece of metal that was on top of Vince. Of course it didn't really hit him and he was fine, but they had him carted out on a stretcher in a neckbrace. His son in law Triple H was there and Vince called him "Paul" as a way to make it seem more real. Basically, this was WWE's way of saying that the ratings ploy wasn't working and that Vince giving away millions of dollars had to end. They could have just ended it without a ridiculous stunt like this, but this is WWE. They love ridiculous stunts.
