Sting has done very little in 2014, yet still ended up the twelfth most popular wrestler in the google metrics. This can be attributed to his long-running WWE contract negotiations. He's reportedly been close to signing with the company since WrestleMania 30, so people are obviously checking the internet daily in hope of developments. The one thing that Sting did do this year is lend his name to WWE 2K15. When he appeared in the teaser trailer for the game, wrestling fans got very excited. That will have sent searches up and helped create a general interest in the Sting character. Just a year ago, the WCW Icon was stranded in TNA. That helps explain why his increase is up so much, people just don't care about the TNA brand. When you start mentioning Sting in relation to WWE though, suddenly he becomes a point of interest.
