20 Must-See WCW Matches
9. Ric Flair (c) Vs. Hulk Hogan – Bash At The Beach ’94 (WCW Championship)
When it comes to monumental moments for WCW, the signing of Hulk Hogan to World Championship Wrestling in 1994 has to be at the top of the list.
As the biggest name in professional wrestling, Hogan was known around the world as the face of the industry during his time in the WWF. Meanwhile, Ric Flair was widely viewed in the same vein as his NWA counterpart, with global recognition gained through years Niatchin' all over the globe.
Despite both men being under contract with the WWF back in 1992, the World Wrestling Federation opted against booking Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan against each other on PPV, in a rare moment of booking insanity; a decision that many consider one of the biggest missed opportunities in wrestling history.
Thankfully, the booking committee in WCW was far less cautious with the trigger finger and booked the match at the first chance they had. The date was July 17th, the destination was Orlando and the event was Bash at the Beach ‘94; it would be Hogan and Flair with World Title on the line, broadcast live on PPV.
In the 22 minute match that took place that night, Flair Naitched, Hulkamania ran wild and the crowd lapped up every second; setting off a chain of events that would alter the wrestling business forever.
