20 Secret Highlights Of WCW That WWE Won't Tell You About
1. Sting's True Legacy
WWE has done a fairly terrible job of promoting Sting. According to them, he's a teleporting vigilante who targeted Triple H for destroying WCW (even though the worst he ever did was ride a jeep around in the vicinity of a Nitro) and is currently targeting Seth Rollins for daring to compare himself to Triple H. It's frankly bizarre for both long-time Little Stingers and WWE loyalists.
Sting's story in WCW was a years-long arc about a performer truly entwined with his home promotion. In the early 1990's, he was an ersatz Hogan, because that's what WCW needed him to be. When the nWo ushered in an era of darkness in WCW, he became dark and violent to oppose them. Even in the last days, when bad booking had driven him away, he returned to battle Ric Flair in the final Nitro main event. To know Sting is to know WCW, and even if Sting had beaten Triple H at WrestleMania, or beats Seth Rollins at Night of Champions, the lion's share of his glory is bound up in the archives of a now-departed promotion.
