20 Spookiest Ever Wrestling Characters

2. Kane

An entire generation of wrestling fans will recall looking on in awe as Kane made his presence felt. Making his first appearance at In Your House: Badd Blood in October, 1997, the masked man was instantly frightening. Interrupting the first ever Hell In A Cell bout between Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker, Kane hammered the latter with a Tombstone Piledriver and cost him the match. Ripping the cell door clean off, Kane came across as an indestructible monster. During the early months of the character's introduction, the WWF did a grand job of making the gimmick a terrifying demon. When the lights dimmed and the arena was bathed in dark red, there was a sense of foreboding. Kane was on his way, and fans knew they were going to see destruction. Based on the Michael Myers character from the popular Halloween series of films, Kane also had a gruesome backstory. Burned severely in a fire said to be set by The Undertaker in his youth, there was a lot of mystique as to what Kane looked like underneath his mask. Time would change this original story significantly, but there were few more scary than 'The Big Red Machine' upon his debut.
