20 Superstars Who Only Had One Championship Reign In WWE
11. Terry Funk
Terry Funk has had almost as many championship reigns as he has retirements. In a tag team with his brother, Dory Jr., or as a singles star, The Funker won multiple titles across the NWA, WCW, and ECW. However, in WWF, Terry Funk was a champion for just 24 hours.
After a brief run in the mid-80s, Terry returned to the WWF in late 1997 as the masked "Chainsaw Charlie". In this case, "masked" means "had a pair of pantyhose over his face". As Charlie, Funk formed a team with his old friend, Mick Foley. At WrestleMania XIV, the two hardcore icons took on The New Age Outlaws for the World Tag Team Championships. Funk and Foley won the titles that night after they shut The Outlaws in a Dumpster; think a Casket Match but with fewer splinters and more water infections.
Their success was short-lived, as The Outlaws regained the titles the very next night on Raw. As he never held gold in the WWF again, Funk's total time as a champion in the promotion was just one day. This weird title reign does nothing to damage Terry's status as a legend though.
The same can't be said for the pantyhose.
