20 Times WWE Was An Absolute Mess In 2019

5. Shorty G

While it was originally nice to see WWE finally investing some time into getting Chad Gable earlier this year, that the end product of this was "Shorty G" is a big bag of balls.

Gable was getting over through his own hard work between the ropes. A series of high-effort King of the Ring performances yielded a cluster of banger matches, including Baron Corbin's career-best singles bout, but the endgame was repackaging Gable with a ring name and gimmick designed to emphasise his biggest weakness.

That's the opposite of effective pro-wrestling booking. It's supposed to be about highlighting the strengths and hiding weakness. Not anymore, apparently, and Gable, a former Olympian who could legitimately smash most of WWE's roster in a shoot, is presented as an overmatched toddler who dresses like he's waiting for his mum to take him to basketball practice.
