20 WCW Easter Eggs, References And In-Jokes You Never Noticed
2. The Blue World Order
Well, what else do you do with three of the members of Raven's Flock in ECW than have them decide to become some acid-tripped version of WCW's New World Order? Yes, the year was 1996, and The Blue Meanie, "Dancin'" Stevie Richards and Super Nova were respectively fat guy with a name borrowed from The Beatles' movie Yellow Submarine, a dork and a dude who cosplayed as super heroes. They were weirdoes and oddballs under the sway of Scott Levy's dramatic turn as Raven, yet when Raven broke up the flock, these three wrestlers borrowed from WCW and hit the next level. Stevie was Kevin Nash clone "Big Stevie Cool," Meanie became Scott Hall clone "Da Blue Guy" and Super Nova became Hollywood Hogan clone "Hollywood Supernova." On occasion joined by underneath wrestler Thomas Rodman (as Dennis Rodman), and then young videotape hustler Rob Feinstein as Syxx rip-off 7-11, the idea that three wrestlers who were in so many ways the absolute polar opposites of the wrestlers they lampooned - yet mirrored their success at some point - is amazing.
