20 Worst Wrestling PPVs Of All Time
11. WCW Slamboree 2000
If you haven't already worked it out, 2000 wasn't exactly a vintage year for WCW. Vince Russo was at the height of his powers by the time Slamboree rolled around that summer, and the card was propped-up by a series of lacklustre, uninteresting low-tier matches that would've been better suited to filling out Nitro.
This was the first wrestling PPV to take place in Kansas City's Kemper Arena since Owen Hart's tragic fall the year before. Taste and decency would suggest that WCW wouldn't book any big fall-based bumps for this reason, but hey, this is latter day WCW! Chris Kanyon took a big second-tier cage fall following the main event, and knowing what happened to Owen, it comes off every bit as sick and tasteless today as it did in 2000.
The main event itself was a shambles, too. David Arquette was WCW Champion by this point, and he was set to defend his ill-gotten gain against Jeff Jarrett and DDP in a triple-tier cage match. It might just be the most "Russo" match of all-time, and ended when the Elvis costume-clad Arquette turned on DDP to align with Jarrett, and help him to victory.
Slamboree 2000 is worth watching for the main event's outright absurdity alone, particularly if you've forgotten just how bad WCW became just before the end.
