20 Wrestlers Who Stole A Living From WWE

6. Mabel/Viscera/Big Daddy V

A prime example of what happens when you hire someone for size over skill, Mabel was given a lot of opportunities to become a big star, most notably by becoming the 1995 King of the Ring. While that showed that Vince had faith in him, it also demonstrated that WWE had such a thin roster that they gave a main event push to a man with a history of uninspiring matches, and who put two of his top wrestlers on the shelf. Of course, what Vince failed to see was that Mabel was not a big man in the right sense, i.e. tall, muscular or otherwise physically-impressive; Mabel was a big man because he was incredibly overweight, weighing somewhere between 475 and 550 pounds. He was the complete opposite of someone like Mark Henry, who was almost all muscle under his singlet, or Big Show, who has acromegaly; Mabel was a big guy who lacked agility or the ability to do many different things in the ring. This problem reached its zenith in the mid-to-late 2000s, when Viscera, now under the ring name €˜Big Daddy V€™, wrestled in a singlet, which exposed the overwhelming amount of body fat that he had on him. No matter how strong or intimidating you might be, no one wants to watch a man€™s breasts jiggle every time he beats his chest. That€™s the kind of thing that turns even the staunchest of wrestling away from the screen. If he had lost some weight, maybe Viscera could€™ve been a more entertaining wrestler. Unfortunately, he simply couldn€™t control his weight, which ultimately led to a series of bad matches, his termination, and sadly, his own death. If WWE ever needed a reason for its stars to be more careful about their weight, it was Viscera.
