20 WTF WCW Moments

4. The Shockmaster

To this day, Fred Ottman reasons that it's a good thing people are still talking about 'The Shockmaster'. Previously known as 'Tugboat' and 'Typhoon' during his tenure with the WWF, Ottman was excited upon hearing that WCW had big plans for him. The Shockmaster would be a monster babyface in the promotion, teaming with the likes of Sting and Davey Boy Smith. All set to make a grand entrance, Ottman infamously tripped over a piece of the set. The promo was supposed to hype the upcoming Fall Brawl 1993 Pay-Per-View, but it instantly ruined any chance the new gimmick had at snatching credibility. In the words of Dusty Rhodes, a production worker had mended the phony wall Shockmaster burst through during rehearsals. Unfortunately, that worker had also placed a solid plank along the bottom. That's what the man tripped over when making his presence known. Even if things had gone smoothly, it still shouldn't be forgotten that WCW's newest big main event character had an awful outfit. The glittery Storm Trooper helmet from Star Wars he was wearing looked extremely corny.
