Scott Steiner was once suspended from WCW television with pay, giving him a paid holiday. A notorious hot-head behind the scenes, the suspension stemmed from a brawl that erupted between Steiner and Diamond Dallas Page backstage. By the turn of the millennium, Scott had become a main event level star in the promotion, but there were worries about his temper. During an in-ring promo on Nitro, Steiner ignored the script completely. Ranting for well over 5 minutes, 'Big Poppa Pump' slated Ric Flair, said fans switched over to watch Steve Austin on Raw, and topped it all off by saying that WCW sucked. Quite clearly, having one of your top stars bash the company in this way was unacceptable, but WCW didn't do anything of note about the incident. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lC09wIT9Flo By this point in the 'Monday Night Wars', wrestling fans tuned into Nitro because they knew they were going to see something chaotic. This kind of thing was typical of the show from 1999-2001, and 2000 got the worst of it. Production errors aplenty were not helped by off-the-cuff promos such as the one Scott Steiner delivered. WCW was a mess around this period.
