20 WWE Retirements That Meant Absolutely Nothing

14. Batista (2010)

From fall 2009 until spring 2010, Batista enjoyed a creative resurgence as a heel, and was one of the most interesting characters on WWE television. Behind the scenes, Batista wasn€™t happy with WWE creative and was looking to expand his talents both in mixed martial arts and in acting. On an episode of Raw the night after the May Pay Per View, Batista quit the WWE in the first segment of the show. Batista€™s hiatus would last nearly four years, but like everybody else who says they€™re done for good, he came back, but only because he was promised the main event of Wrestlemania and the WWE Championship. Due to Daniel Bryan€™s success with getting over with the WWE Universe, plans had to change, and Batista€™s title reign became a casualty. In almost the same fashion as he did four years earlier, Batista quit the WWE the night after the May Pay Per View. Maybe it€™ll be another four years before Batista returns again and does the same thing all over again.
