14. April - Bruno Sammartino Dies

Bruno Sammartino Raw Tribute
WWE

The wrestling world lost a legitimate legend in late April when Bruno Sammartino, WWE's longest reigning World Champion of all time, passed away at the age of 82.

Bruno's relationship with his former employers had been frosty for many years, but had thawed towards the end of his life as he was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame. Not surprisingly, WWE moved to pay tribute to one of the most important figures in the history of not just the company, but the industry.

Triple H was the first to honour Sammartino, Tweeting that he was a "true icon" and a "true friend". On the Raw immediately following Sammartino's death, the whole WWE roster assembled on the ramp as the ten-bell salute rang out for WWE's greatest ever champion.

He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
