Over two years after cutting his emotional retirement speech, Daniel Bryan had eyes watering for totally different reasons on the 20 March episode of SmackDown as he confirmed to a rapturous audience that he had been medically cleared to return to the ring.

With WrestleMania looming - and more significantly, growing suggestions that Bryan could throw his chips into Cody's All In bet if he wasn't allowed back in the ring - doctors finally concluded following "extensive neurological and physical evaluations" that the World's Strongest Vegan was fit enough to return to action.

Bryan's announcement of the news was met with an outpouring of emotion. Perhaps had fans known his first major feud back in the trunks would be designed to boost Big Cass of all people, excitement would have been somewhat tempered.
