Wrestling loves its unapologetically soap opera-esque storylines, and one of the more recent memorable ones saw Vince McMahon finding out he has an illegitimate son. After a month of speculation, the mother's lawyer revealed the child's identity on the September 10, 2007 edition of Raw. As the WWE's male roster gathered around the ring, the clues were bled out: he has a fondness for gold, he's fair-skinned and fair-haired, and "loves to play the game". This caused Vince to believe, hilariously, that his son was Triple H, until the lawyer interrupted to tell him that it was Hornswoggle. This led to a program in which Vince would be constantly humiliated for giving birth to a little person, though eventually JBL revealed that Hornswoggle was the son of Finlay and it was all a ruse designed by the other McMahons along with Finlay. The whole thing was a bizarre, botched mess of a storyline, because the initial plan was for Mr. Kennedy to be the son, but after he was implicated in the 2007 wellness scandal, he was suspended for "impersonating a McMahon" and the angle's promise quickly dissolved.
