23 Things We Learned From Edge & Christian On Stone Cold's WWE Network Podcast

21. Edge Hanging It Up

In response to the same question, Edge answers that he was honestly ready to be done. Austin is skeptical but Edge says that he started when he was seventeen, and it's all he ever wanted to do. It was WWE and that was it. He said he had a year left on his deal when he had to retire due to the injury, but that he thinks when that deal was up he was done. He said he already had the house in Asheville and was still working hard and trying to put over and teach the Del Rios and Zigglers, but he was trying to lay the groundwork so he could go. Austin said he used to have to take 100-mile round trips to get a cheeseburger just to give himself something to do. Edge says that what helped him was the producers of the show Haven saw his retirement speech and invited him on the show for one episode, so he flew up to Halifax and one episode turned into forty.
