25 Best Moments Of WWE Monday Night RAW (Year-By-Year)

24. 1994: Bret Hart Vs. The 1-2-3 Kid

The New Generation Era is often rightly derided for its general dearth of talent and creative regression from previous eras. However, being the era that gave us a 20-plus minute Bret Hart/Sean Waltman match on free TV, it obviously was not totally bereft of quality.

Continuing his streak as a sentimental underdog, the 1-2-3 Kid finally got a shot at the big time and earned a WWF title match against Bret 'The Hitman' Hart. What followed was one of the best matches not just of the New Generation era, but in Monday Night RAW's overall history. Waltman says this was the best match he's ever been in, and considering the length of his career, that's saying something.

Of course, it's to be expected when you remember he was working with the 'Excellence of Execution'. Hart gave Waltman plenty of offense and near-falls, and when combined with Jim Ross and Randy Savage's commentary, the pair crafted an instant classic. It's a match that showed that, even in a dark period, the WWF was capable of delivering great TV.
