Edge and The Undertaker feuded for the bulk of 2008 -- they first clashed at WrestleMania XXIV, with Undertaker winning the World Heavyweight Championship from "The Rated R Superstar," but Edge eventually reclaimed the title, and, as per a match stipulation, forced Undertaker out of WWE. It wasn't until Vickie Guerrero found out Edge was cheating on her that The Undertaker was reinstated and sicced on the then-former World Heavyweight Champion.

The two had a dramatic, albeit slow encounter that saw Undertaker pick up the victory, sealing up a successful return to action. After the bout, though, he decided he hadn't inflicted enough damage. The Phenom took Edge up a ladder, grabbed him around the throat, and chokeslammed him, sending him through the canvas of the ring. After Edge disappeared from view, flames shot from the hole he had formed.

The visual may have been cool, but it was a cartoonish trick that didn't suit Edge's character. When he returned some months later, there was no mention of his time in "Hell" -- or indeed, any fire-related injury whatsoever.
