25 Lamest WrestleMania Moments Of All Time

5. WrestleMania IX - Hogan's Impromptu Title Victory

WWE.com

One of the most maligned moments in WrestleMania history came in the closing minutes of WrestleMania IX. Heroic WWE Champion Bret Hart had just been defeated by dominant challenger Yokozuna, thanks to some interference by Yokozuna's manager, Mr. Fuji. When Hulk Hogan - who had returned from a sabbatical earlier in the night to challenge for the WWE World Tag Team Titles - came out to check on Bret, though, Fuji challenged The Hulkster to an immediate contest.

At Bret's behest, Hogan accepted, and this time, Fuji's interference backfired, allowing Hogan to claim the title. Just like that, Bret was relegated to the number three position in the company he had helped carry for the better part of the last year, and once again, Hulk Hogan was the center of the wrestling universe. Despite Bret's popularity, Hogan versus Yokozuna was naturally the next title program, and Hogan dropped the title to Yokozuna before leaving WWE (despite assurances he would lose it to Hart in order to crown Hart WWE's new superstar). It would be another year before Bret Hart reclaimed the WWE Title.
