25 Lamest WrestleMania Moments Of All Time

18. WrestleMania IV - Hogan And Andre DQed From Tournament

After controversy during - and following - the Hulk Hogan-Andre the Giant WWE Championship match at Saturday Night's Main Event, the title was declared vacant for the first time in its history. With WrestleMania IV fewer than two months away, it was decided that the event would host a one-night, single-elimination tournament, with the winner getting the gold.

Just to ensure some measure of closure, Hogan and Andre, each given a bye to the second round, were matched up against each other. When the match came, breaths were baited; not only was this the rematch of the century, but surely, the winner would be a favorite to claim the entire tournament.

It wasn't to be, though -- the overzealous competitors manhandled the referee en route to beating on each other, and thus both were disqualified. The crowd loudly booed the decision, and it cast a pallor over the rest of the tournament. Randy Savage would be crowned WWE Champion by defeating Ted DiBiase, but without him beating Hogan or Andre, it was painfully clear he wasn't the company's top star. When Hogan won the title from Savage the following year, it was proof that the 'Macho Man' was simply keeping Hulk's belt warm.
