25 Worst Wrestling Moments Of 2020

4. Raw Selects RETRIBUTION?!

WWE Draft 2020 Retribution

Make it make sense.

In fairness, the WWE Draft rarely does. 2020's version was abominable though. Get this: Raw chose the entire Retribution faction as part of the Draft on 12 October. Right, so red brand management theoretically wanted an anarchist faction vowing to tear WWE to pieces on their watch? That made no sense whatsoever.

Admittedly, the whole Draft concept was rubbished when Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns came out as the first 2 picks and stayed on shows they were already on, but then Mustafa Ali and pals entered the mix to make things even less logical. Surely, Draft picks should be rooted in some kind of common sense.

Shows shouldn't need to re-draft wrestlers who are already tied to their brand, and they certainly shouldn't want a bunch of seemingly dangerous rebels running around the place when they've made it clear that absolute power/control is all they care about. This was one of the standout worst decisions of the entire year.

Realistically, Retribution should've been left out in the cold as free agents because neither Raw nor SmackDown wanted to touch them. Then, having them kick in the doors anyway would've had more of an impact. Nope. Ali, T-BAR and chums cheerily agreed terms with a show they themselves had assaulted just 2 months and change before.

Raw chose Retribution ahead of Keith Lee (who seemed like a big deal back then), Sheamus and more. The faction's weak story dribbled on until WWE put them out of their misery in March 2021. What a colossal failure from beginning to end.
