Adam Copeland and Christian's feuds in AEW have been a little underwhelming to say the least.

They're life-long friends who have been connected to one another's careers for their entire time in the public consciousness, and (as such) watching them go to war at this stage of their career requires a level of cutting off reality that's difficult for fans to achieve.

Their World's End 2023 encounter ended with a screwy finish for the ages. Killswitch had won a contract for the chance to cash in for the TNT Championship at any point by winning a 20-man Battle Royal. It felt like a strange thing to be randomly added to the card, but things became clearer later in the night.

Copeland and Cage had a 'No DQ' match scheduled for Christian's TNT belt. During it, the old pals battered each other with chair shots and table spots, but Copeland emerged victorious before Killswitch took him out with a chokeslam onto a chair. As he went to cash in his title shot on the new champ, Christian stopped him, signed the contract himself, and gave Cope his spear to win back the belt.

If the aim was for Copeland to look strong, it failed. This flip-flopping of the title only served to make their overly long 25-minute match feel like a laborious waste of everybody's time.
