25 'WWE Superstars' Matches That Were Actually Awesome

6. The Undertaker vs. Matt Hardy (April 16, 2009)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7GIZGouBPU If you were to see The Undertaker advertised for a match on 'WWE Superstars' this day and age, you'd need to get your vision checked. However, that wasn't the case the night 'Superstars' debuted on WGN America on April 16, 2009. WWE was looking to make a splash with the pilot episode of the show, and how better to do so than by featuring Undertaker? Remember, this took place only a few weeks removed from his epic match with Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 25, and it wasn't long after that he was gone again until SummerSlam, so it was an interesting transitional period for The Deadman. Matt Hardy was the perfect opportunity for him considering he was coming off his big win against his brother Jeff Hardy at The Show of Shows.
Matt was one of the hottest heels in the company at the time and a high profile match with 'Taker on the first night of a new show was only going to boost his credibility. The match wasn't stellar by any means, but it was certainly solid and the two developed nice chemistry with each other. The count-out win for 'Taker protected Hardy and allowed him to take a Tombstone afterward without losing via pinfall. Plus, it was the first ever match in the history of 'Superstars', and The Undertaker was involved! What isn't historic about that?
