The ongoing Wednesday Night Wars will take a break on 19 August, 26 August, and 16 September as a result of the upcoming NBA playoff schedule.

Yesterday brought the announcement that TNT had decided to switch AEW Dynamite from its usual Wednesday slot on these dates. Here's when the shows will air instead:-

19 August: Moved to Saturday 22 August at 6pm EST, which was traditionally an old WCW/NWA television slot. It should also be noted that NXT TakeOver XXX goes down later that evening.

26 August: Moved to whenever the evening's NBA games finish. In addition, there will be another new episode of Dynamite the following night (27 August), with reports suggesting both shows will be "loaded up."

16 September: Moved to Thursday 17 September at 8pm EST.

A special Countdown to All Out has also been set for 2 September at 10pm EST.

The changes shouldn't come as a huge surprise, as NBA programming is a more valuable asset to TNT than professional wrestling, with TNT and ESPN netting a combined $2.66 billion p/a as the league's broadcast partners. It'll be interesting to see how the changes impact AEW's viewership nonetheless.
