3 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (Dec 25)

1. Sammy Guevara’s Resilience

Everything was dynamite (ahem) about the main event TNT Title bout until the finish. In hindsight, it might've been better to see Sammy Guevara prove his mettle as the reigning champion and hold onto his prize heading into the new year. That's a personal opinion though, so some will disagree.

At least AEW let Sammy look resilient on the way out.

The Inner Circle man came across as a champion willing to do everything in his power to survive. During the closing stretch, he took two Cross Rhodes from Cody and then fell to a Tiger Driver. Basically, it took three finishers to stamp out his flames, which is helpful for Guevara post-title run.

His never-say-die spirit has been firmly established. Even if you hated the title change, which this fan did, it's hard to deny that Sammy looked tough-as-balls by hanging in there as Rhodes emptied both barrels into his chest.

Tough Sammy = the best Sammy.
