3 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage: Winter Is Coming (Dec 15 - Results & Review)

Downs...

3. Another Unnecessary Squash

Kyle Fletcher Powerhouse Hobbs Don Callis Family
AEW

Ultimately, AEW wanted to get to the "Don Callis Family Rules" chatter with Chris Jericho, but they could've done that without tacking on another useless squash to Rampage's format sheets. Simply put, the weekly just doesn't need these short bouts. They don't actually suit AEW's roster either.

Powerhouse Hobbs has been there, done that with these things. Meanwhile, one Kyle Fletcher is best-served in matches that put across his workrate. He can grow into this snooty character under Don's watch in lengthy matches too, y'know. Squashes shouldn't be on Fletcher's radar heading into 2024.

Stop it.

Jericho barely had time on commentary to talk about his issues with Don or his Family when the match finished in the blink of an eye. If Jericho wasn't allowed to add necessary context to the feud, then what was the point in booking this match at all?
