3 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (Aug 12)

1. Strong Opening Exchange

Bryan Danielson Daniel Garcia
AEW

Rampage doesn't typically feature strong face-to-face promos; certainly not ones that open the show. Maybe it should though, because that confrontation between Bryan Danielson and Daniel Garcia was the best thing about this week's broadcast.

Garcia more than held his own on the mic against one of All Elite's top stars. His mannerisms were first class, and he knew exactly when to go from overbearing heel to somebody who had been taken down a peg or two by a strait-laced babyface.

Bryan giving Garcia food for thought about whether he wants to be a proper pro wrestler or a "Sports Entertainer" in Chris Jericho's shadow was tremendous build for their upcoming Dynamite scrap. Again, Garcia's facials added to Danielson's words and told the story of a young lion led astray.

Christ, this was excellent.
