3 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (Feb 23 - Results & Review)
1. Mariah May & Anna Jay
These women richly deserve the top 'Up' spot this week.
Anna Jay and Queen Aminata got the nod last time too. Arguably, Jay's match vs. Mariah May wasn't quite on par with that one, but they still entertained and put on a show for fans who take the time to sit down with Rampage. One got the sense that both Anna and Mariah wanted to win from the opening bell.
More matches should be that way rather than going through the motions with a procession of spots first. It's so, so heartening to see women like Jay continue to improve all the time. She's on a bit of a mini-losing streak on Fridays, but that's OK. The quality of her performances is what counts right now.
If you're only planning on checking out one match from Rampage, then make it this one. Anna and Mariah gelled immediately, and both were extremely giving. That ebb and flow helped give the match some bite. It'd be amazing if Tony realised what he has with Jay and pushed her to the moon later this year.
She deserves that recognition.
