3 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE SmackDown (June 25)
2. Cesaro Is All-Business
Admission: WWE's show-opening promo trains are a tired trope that could do with some bench time. Bianca Belair, Bayley and Seth Rollins had nothing worthwhile to say between them (that's criminal), and they were gobbling up valuable airtime like it didn't matter until Cesaro came out spitting fire.
The Swiss wrestling machine trading mics for punches was the right call.
Cesaro jump-started the mixed tag bout by attacking Rollins, and that helped everybody else settle in and establish a tone for the rest of the match. This is how Cesaro should be used - he doesn't need to talk, not when he can wrestle rings around the competition instead and show them who's boss between the ropes.
Keeping him out of the match-winning pinfall was smart too. Cesaro didn't need to eat another loss so quickly after Hell In A Cell, and Bayley will need all the help she can get if WWE expect people to believe she has a realistic shot at dethroning Bianca Belair.
This was good.
