At the upcoming Backlash pay-per-view, a SmackDown Live exclusive event, brand new Tag-Team and Women's Champions will be established for the brand. Currently, a tournament is ongoing for the tandem belts, whereas WWE will present a 'Six-Pack Challenge' match for the female championship.

Both those situations continued on this week's show, one that oddly felt a little thin on the ground in terms of quality. There's a big event right around the corner, yet SmackDown simply meandered through the latest episode. That's concerning, because WWE management should be doing everything they can right now to ensure that the program sparkles.

There were good points, but they were completely overshadowed by the lack of a truly special match to help pin things down. This week, fans were handed two Tag-Team Title tournament bouts, another tag-team match featuring the women, and a pair of throwaway singles encounters. It was hardly red hot fare.

It could be argued that not every show can be certified gold, but this week featured less good and more bad. Let's look at the main 'ups' and 'downs' from SmackDown this time around...
