3 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Dec 9)

A slightly meh show before TakeOver: London

Well, colour me a little disappointed. NXT rounded off its last 2015 recording at Full Sail with a show that can't rightly be considered a complete dud (few episodes of NXT can) but in terms of building excitement for a TakeOver show, last night's offering of yellow branded goodies failed to live up to its own previously-established high standards. The night started strong with Enzo and Big Cass turning up the intensity as they trampled Hollis and Skyler, before cutting a blistering promo. After that, however, the hype machine slowed down, with the other main rivalries going into TakeOver - Bayley/Jax, Corbin/Crews, Balor/Joe - all received same old, same old treatment from previous weeks, leaving few feuds feeling as well-built as they could potentially be. Also, a match between The Hype Bros and Blake & Murphy on a go-home edition of NXT? I'm not saying that the match was bad, but considering neither team has a match slated for next week, did it really belong?

Downs...

5. Nothing For Gable & Jordan

My fanboy cards firmly placed on the table, it's a little baffling why Gable & Jordan currently don't have a match booked for NXT TakeOver London. They've been the most reliable, and over, tag team in NXT since Respect and you have to believe that they'll be rapturously received in England's capital. The card for next Wednesday is still only 5 matches deep, so there's space for one more, and even if not, NXT will likely film a week's work of NXT tapings before the main show kicks off. They did exactly the same with TakeOver: Brooklyn, so it's likely that Gable & Jordan will get something next week, but when you consider how wildly popular both amateur specialists have become in recent months, its a disappointment that the two don't have a featured feud going into London. You can't say that they don't deserve it and, let's face it, the last thing the company wants is for the fans to turn sour on them, when they're not given a superstar they're clamouring for.
