1. Familiar Main Event Lacks Go-Home Feel
The match wasn't terrible (again, few NXT matches are) but you expect slightly more fireworks from the last main event bout before a big special. Instead, we simply got a re-run of set-pieces we've seen before. Apollo Crews and Baron Corbin brawled to the outside, which we saw 4 weeks ago, and Samoa Joe submitted Finn Balor to the Coquina Clutch, which, as mentioned before, is the third time that this has happened. Even the image of Joe holding the NXT Championship over Finn's prone, drool-covered body is something we've seen a handful of times now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ni79VXj1k7Y There was nothing in the way of narrative escalation last night. All the elements were thrown together in a big tag match, with the potential to produce something truly extraordinary, something that will leave the fans at home chomping at the bit. However, the overwhelming sense of the familiar quelled the excitement and the too-brief match will likely do little to serve each feud before they blow off next week.
