3 Ups And 5 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Dec 9)
2. The One-Sided Feuds
There have been more predictable match-ups in NXT history but with Balor/Joe playing out like it has, is there doubt in anybody's mind that Finn will be walking out of London with the championship? Balor has been utterly humiliated in this feud, with Joe leaving him in an unconscious pile of his own dribble three separate times. If Finn had gotten some measure of revenge last night, it would have made the outcome of next Wednesday a little harder to call, but there's been no let-up in Joe's punishment, the narrative of which dictating that Balor will almost certainly gain his vengeance in the title match. Similarly, Bayley has been nothing but the unfortunate underdog in her encounters with Nia Jax, which makes it a near-certainly that she will overcome the beast when the stakes are at their highest. Even the feuds that have been slightly more evenly balanced feel like they'll end with a predictable match. Enzo and Cass will likely go over Dawson and Wilder, Crews will go over Corbin, Asuka will beat Emma. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with a predictable match if the story is right (Zayn vs Neville at TakeOver R-Evolution more than proved that) but an entirely predictable card is a different story. Hopefully NXT will have some surprises in store come Wednesday.
