The newly-formed SmackDown Live roster holds Dean Ambrose aloft, his victory having brought the WWE Championship to the blue brand.

From almost the moment Seth Rollins turned on his Shield brothers, WWE fans were eager to see all three men clash in an epic triple threat match - with many predicting it for WrestleMania 33.

Instead, the three squared off at Battleground in a contest which seemed curiously underwhelming. Although a good bout, it was overshadowed by the recent brand split, and was billed as the match which would decide the destination of Ambrose's WWE Championship. The Lunatic Fringe retained his title, and celebrated with his new SmackDown roster-mates - including, most bafflingly of all, Jimmy and Jey Uso (who had been unwaveringly loyal to Roman Reigns beforehand).
