You can’t blame Vince Russo for this strange Show of Shows; he was (partly) to blame for the catastrophic fall of WCW in the meantime.

The injury-enforced departure of Steve Austin and the arrival of the Radicalz faction converged to create a chaotic event crammed with multi-man matches, the last of which was marred by McMahon melodrama; the family had grossly overstated their own onscreen importance, leading to an underwhelming bout fittingly capped off by a depressing heel victory.

Years later, WWE would perfect the multi-man formula. The McMahons, however, still won’t go away.
