Entertaining in patches but ultimately exhausting, it was difficult not to empathise with the Undertaker as he laboured to set up Roman's Tombstone: his plight mirrored that of a thoroughly shattered audience at the close of WrestleMania 33.

The GIF tells a layered story surely approaching its conclusion. A leaden ‘Taker had given his body to the fans for decades; it was little wonder that he could not give himself to Reigns for this botched Tombstone reversal spot.

Emblematic of a part-timer era fading in its power, we can only hope ‘Taker does what ‘Taker does on April 8: prove us wrong.
