4 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Rampage (June 16)

Mark Papa Briscoe Aubrey Edwards
AEW

Look, the mixed tag was obviously limited from a technical perspective. Papa Briscoe "moves like a glacier" (great line from Chris Jericho on commentary), and Aubrey Edwards is a referee. This was never going to be Kenny Omega vs. Will Ospreay, so your expectations needed to be in check.

There was enough from Jay Lethal, Jeff Jarrett and Mark Briscoe to cover any cracks though, and everyone else involved ably backed that threesome up. Aubrey scored the win by locking a figure four on Karen Jarrett for the submission win, and Excalibur earned a laugh for stating they were "still unbeaten" as a trio.

It was all light-hearted fun.

Yes, it was a train wreck, but in an entertaining way. Few will have any desire to see Aubrey step back between the ropes as a "wrestler" again, to be fair. Consider this an itch scratched. On the plus side, AEW had Edwards beating Karen. It wasn't as though she was booked competitively against Toni Storm.
