4 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Rampage (June 16)

1. Main Event Banger

Don Callis Konosuke Takeshita
AEW

Onto the headliner, and oh what a headliner it proved to be.

Something feels right about Konosuke Takeshita's new alliance with Don Callis. It's the boost Takeshita needed, and shifting Callis away from Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks made sense anyway. Together, Konosuke and Don scream 'we're a hot act and we're going places'.

Bandido was the right opponent for Takeshita too. He kept the flying to a minimum and only upped the tempo at select points throughout the match. That was appreciated, because it gave the announcers (including Callis for a short spell) enough time to tell Konosuke's story and get his new character across without battling against a blur of spots.

This bout wouldn't have been out of place on Dynamite or Collision. In short, if Rampage continues to serve up dazzlers of this quality, then nobody has anything to worry about. Sky's the limit for Takeshita with Don by his side. Drink it in and enjoy it.
